On The Road movie is here.

Many of us probably read Jack Kerouac’s book “On the Road” in high school as required reading. I have a love/hate relationship with this concept. I love the idea of introducing kids in their development to the ideas contained with Kerouac’s book. However, what 16 year old is read for the themes and changing of the culture of the 1957? I struggled the concept of reading in general, trying to consume this book was tough, I didn’t really understand it. It wasn’t until much later that I was able to appreciate it’s significance.

Well, that introduction aside, they made a movie out of it. I would presume Hollywood has been trying to turn this book into a movie for a while. Below is the trailer (here is the official movie site) and if the trailer is an indication of anything, it will contain beautiful teen angst. Also, the cast of this movie is pretty stellar and Walter Salles also directed The Motorcycle Diaries, another travel narrative.
