Blogging Priest

Posted by

A few years ago I started a blog. It was something to track my time in a new place and let people who were interested to keep up with my new endeavors. I was kind of nervous and scared to start it because I knew some people would think I was self-important. Well, we in the last 5 years we have seen twitter bring down regimes, blogs become more influential than major news companies and facebook basically rules us all. How about that for self-importance?

In an interesting, and I think cool, growth in the catholic church, Friar John Hunwicke was ordained a Catholic Priest. If you read this article introducing him, part of his introduction is that he is a blogger, like that has some sort of cache now. You know what, it does.

If you read any of his blog, (which you can if you click here) apparently there was some controversy surrounding his blog and whether or not he should be allowed to in the Priesthood. Careful what you put on that tumblr and twitter, what might be casual joke about the holocaust  might keep you from getting that job in 10 years, no matter how funny the holocaust is.

This is the world we live in now folks. Blogging Priests. Next we’ll have Moms on facebook and Dad’s on Instagram. Who knows what that world would look like?!
